IRIX shipped with an old version of OpenSSH but this is unsuitable due to lacking ciphers compatible with modern SSH servers and clients. There are two options for SSH on IRIX 6.5, and potentially one for 6.2.

IRIX 6.5 - Options

There are two options for SSH on IRIX:

OpenSSH: Packaged by SGUG

Dropbear SSH: Packaged in Optxeno and slated for Nekoware 2025

Why to reconsider OpenSSH

OpenSSH is first and foremost, an OpenBSD project, and modern OpenSSH is aggressively expanding what it requires to the point that it may not run reliably or fast enough on most SGIs.

Dropbear is less secure, without a doubt, just due to less eyes on it than OpenSSH, but it is fully functional on IRIX.

IRIX 6.2

Raion is actively asking for a 6.2 machine to attempt dropbear on.
